【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationaddressestheuseofroundandrectangularcross-sectionpolymericpilesinaxialandlateralload-bearingapplications,includingbutnotlimitedtomarine,waterfront,andcorrosiveenvironments.1.2Thisspecificationisonlyapplicabletoindividualpolymericpileproducts.Sheetpileandothermechanicallyconnectedpolymericpileproductsusinginter-lockingsystems,arenotpartofthisspecification.1.3Thepilingproductsconsideredhereinarecharacterizedbytheuseofpolymers,whereby(1)thepilestrengthorstiffnessrequirestheinclusionofthepolymer,or(2)aminimumoffiftypercent(50%)oftheweightorvolumeisderivedfromthepolymer.ThetypeclassificationsofpolymericpilesdescribedinSection4showhowtheycanbereinforcedbycompositedesignforincreasedstiffnessorstrength.1.4Thisspecificationcoverspolymericpilesfabricatedfrommaterialsthatarevirgin,recycled,orboth,aslongasthefinishedproductmeetsallofthecriteriaspecifiedherein.Diversetypesandcombinationsofinorganicfillersystemsarepermittedinthemanufacturingofpolymericpilingproducts.Inorganicfillersincludesuchmaterialsastalc,mica,silica,wollastonite,calciumcarbonate,etc.Pilingsareoftenplacedinservicewheretheywillbesubjectedtocontinuousdamporwetexposureconditions.Duetoconcernsofwatersensitivityandpossibleaffectsonmechanicalpropertiesinsuchserviceconditions,organicfillers,includinglignocellulosicmaterialssuchasthosemadeorderivedfromwood,woodflour,flaxshive,ricehulls,wheatstraw,andcombinationsthereof,arenotpermittedinthemanufacturingofpolymericpilingproducts.1.5Thevaluesarestatedininch-poundunitsasthesearecurrentlythemostcommonunitsusedbytheconstructionindustry.1.6PolymericpilesunderthisspecificationaredesignedusingdesignstressesdeterminedinaccordancewithTestMethodsD6108,D6109,andD6112andprocedurescontainedwithinthisspecificationunlessotherwisespecified.1.7Althoughinsomeinstancesitwillbeanimportantcomponentofthepiledesign,frictionalpropertiesarecurrentlybeyondthescopeofthisdocument.1.8Criteriafordesignareincludedaspartofthisspecificationforpolymericpiles.CertainTypesandsizesofpolymericpileswillbebettersuitedforsomeapplicationsthanothers.PolymericpilesdesignedandmanufacturedunderthedifferentTypeclassificationsasdefinedwithinthisspecificationwill,asawhole,exhibitawide-rangeofmechanicalproperties.Forexample,a10-in.diameterTypeII,choppedglassfiberreinforcedhigh-densitypolyethylene(HDPE)pilewilllikelyhaveanapparentstiffnessmuchdifferentthana10-in.diameterTypeV,glassfiberreinforcedcompositetubefilledwithconcrete.Similarly,theultimatemomentcapacityofthesetwoexamplepileswillalsolikelybesignificantlydifferentfromeachother.UseofalicensedProfessionalEngineeris,therefore,highlyrecommendedfordesigningandselectingpolymericpilesinaccordancewiththisspecification.1.9Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note18212;ThereisnoknownISOequivalenttothisspecification.
